Sundial layouts, computed & drawn for the cutting machine

Specimen files

Three complete Hourline files, free to download. Open them in your own software (LightBurn, Inkscape, Illustrator, Fusion, VCarve, QCAD, SheetCam) and check that the layers, colours and sizes come in as you expect. Each is engraved Specimen file and drawn for a fixed place, so they are for testing rather than for hanging on a wall.

Layer convention

CUT
SVG stroke #FF0000, 0.1 mm; DXF layer CUT, colour 1. Outlines of plate and gnomon.
ENGRAVE / TEXT
SVG stroke #000000; DXF layers ENGRAVE and TEXT, colour 7. All lines and single-stroke lettering. Score, V-carve or line-engrave them.
GUIDE
SVG stroke #0000FF; DXF layer GUIDE, colour 5. Gnomon footprint, root, nodus foot and labels. Turn this layer off before cutting.

Units are millimetres. The SVG declares its physical size, so it opens at true scale. The DXF is AutoCAD R12 with plain LINE and CIRCLE entities, about as portable as a DXF can be.
